This tool calculates journey costs to compare EV subscription value against PAYG rates.
Note: Glowing green items guide the way.
Calculation Type
Switch between two calculation types:
BREAK EVEN (default)
COST REDUCTION.
Type: BREAK EVEN
Break Even (default calculation type) displays the break-even-miles value for all UK EV-charging subscription providers. This tells you how many miles you must drive using each provider's discounted rate to recoup its subscription fee.
Type: COST REDUCTION
Cost Reduction dives deeper into the specifics of your vehicle and charging habits as well as your planned journey distance to calculate potential savings.
By necessity, it needs a lot of information.
Assessing Results
After populating each field in either calculation mode, the results will be displayed in expandable sections. If you then change one or more form values, the results will update automatically.
If you are unsure what a field is asking for — and there may be several such fields — click theℹ️Yes, just like this.icon for more information.
Guides & AI Assistant
Calculator not enough? We've got you covered. Explore a selection of EV Guides, Day 2 Issues, and Further Reading pages from the menu.
You can also use the AI assistant for instant UK-specific EV advice. The assistant is accessed via the floating widget on the left side of each page or from the menu.
Reminder About the Break-Even Calculation Type
The break-even distance is the number of miles you must drive to recoup a provider's monthly subscription fee. This is a product of your stated vehicle efficiency (miles/kWh) and your average expected PAYG rate when not using a subscription.
Important: the break-even distance begins when you first charge with a provider — not when you set off from home with a pre-charged battery.

EV Subs Calculator
Use the tabs to switch between Break Even and Cost Reduction calculation types.
Start by adding all subscription providers. This will identify the cheapest provider for your planned route(s) compared with the PAYG baseline for public charging. You may also define custom provider entries or temporarily edit supplied values (e.g., if you have checked rates for a specific area, and they are different from the average rate supplied).
⚡ Provider list hidden — but all selected providers remain active in calculations.
